These are the tools of my photography.
Over the past 11 years of weather photography I have slowly been getting into the digital
age with more up-to-date equipment.
STILL-SHOT CAMERAS
Most of the images you see between
storms T0004 and T0047 are purely screen-grabs from the video camera. Some storms for example may
have shots of the clouds taken by my 35mm camera then scanned in. By April 2004 when T0047 occurred I had acquired
the Fujifilm digital camera and by June 2008 I bought an Digital SLR (took
long enough but I got it in the end!). VIDEO CAMERAS
I bought my first video camera, the
Samsung VP-H65, back in October
1996 when I was just 12. I then started filming
storms in 1997 with it. It is an excellent quality Hi-8 camera and it has
done well but is now showing its age. I bought a Canon XM2 semi-professional
digital video camera in
July 2006 ready for the second half of storm season, and it has proved
itself with some outstanding image quality and features.
VIDEO EDITING SUITE
I bought this VCR back in 1998 and cost
me quite a bit as its 4-headed version specially designed for video-editing
PINNACLE STUDIO DC10plus & PINNACLE Studio 7
This is the PC video capture card
I have been using since 1999, and upgraded the software to Studio 7 in 2001.
Still using it today even with the Canon XM2.
