Type: Shooting Vortex
Documented by: Mark Seltzer
Equipment: Samsung VP-H65 Video Camera
Footage Quality: VHS
Yet again for the third time in my storm spotting history, I spotted
mesocyclonic activity to the northwest of Macclesfield in the same position
as the tornadoes of T0014 and T0027. I figure as the area is in the
"Cheshire Gap" it is relatively flat in that direction, and may aid the
development of circulation.
However this was just a shooting vortex that never reached the ground
but prevailed with the development of the storm. There was no thunder or
lightning activity at the present time visible from Macclesfield, however
there may have been elsewhere. The vortex lasted for about 7 minutes before
ascending into the updraft.
